Developers who understand visual hierarchy and user empathy are extraordinarily valuable. When frontend engineers grasp design fundamentals, product delivery accelerates and the final application looks premium and polished.

1. The 8pt Spatial Rhythm System

Avoid arbitrary pixel values like margin: 13px or padding: 27px. Standardize all spacing around multiples of 8 (8px, 16px, 24px, 32px, 48px). This creates natural visual cadence and rhythm across screens.

2. Typographic Contrast Over Color

Before adding flashy colors, ensure your hierarchy is established purely through font weight, size, and line height. A distinct heading, subtle secondary label, and readable paragraph line length (60-75 characters) makes text effortless to scan.

3. Meaningful Micro-Interactions

Buttons should have clear hover, active, and focus states. Form inputs must clearly indicate validation errors with descriptive helper text rather than cryptic popups.
